High Expectations- major cause for disappointment
High and undue expectations are the major cause for our irritation, anger, disappointment and depression. Normally our expectations with everybody, be it with spouse, parents, children, servants or employees are so high that it rarely gets satisfied thus making us feel bad. Even matters unrelated to us and not in our control (traffic, violence, govt. rules etc) too find a place in the ambit of our expectations, so much so that, we get enough reasons to feel bad on every occasion. The lesser we expect the more the more we experience peace, joy, efficiency, productivity and good things in life. Reduce expectations and enjoy life.-
 Sri. Sadguru Rameshji Ji

'I used to expect a lot with everybody in the family and when they were not meeting my expectation I used to get angry. I became B.P patient and felt depressed most of the days. My life was terrible. When I reduced my expectations I find lot of changes in my life. B.P is in control, everybody is respecting me more than ever, I sleep well and children have become friendly with me. Now I have realized what life is, in real sense.'

  Question and Answers
Q:Without high expectations how can we perform to optimum and make others too perform well. Won’t we be settling for less than what we deserve by reducing expectations? A: Your level of performance is not based on your expectations but is based on your goals, vision, confidence, commitment, conviction to achieve your goals and a relaxed inner self. Your high and undue expectations may only make you negative and de-motivate others. Put sincere efforts and accept the result as it comes. If the results are less than your goals, analyze your efforts (physical and mental), make suitable changes and carry on with your efforts with new vigor.

Remaining positive and relaxed, at home and at work, is the key to success for any person. High expectation always cause disappointments and disturbs inner self. It makes mind negative and effects decision making

Free yourself from the bondage of pains and pleasure

Date : 17 Oct 2008

Every action of yours to which you attribute 'I' (i.e. I have done it) binds you to its result. The result will either give you pain or pleasure and that would make you perform some more action thereby entangling you to the unending cycle of pains and pleasures (or say birth, death and rebirth). To liberate from this vicious cycle you have to start attributing all your actions to 'God' (as if you are its representative) and accept the result of your actions as the remuneration for the efforts put in, then you would be freed from the clutches of karma and its consequences (pains and pleasures). You will establish in a state of constant happiness.-  Sri. Sadguru Rameshji Ji

My life has become much smoother after I have started offering all my actions to God and accepting myself to be his manager, even in my own business. I am feeling my decision making has improved since I always feel God is behind me and I have his full support to my decisions. I work with the confidence that in case of any problem he will take care (as he is the owner) and have even experienced that problems are being solved easily and this is keeping me happy all the time. Such a simple way to be happy was not known to me. ThanksKrishna Sagar.

  Question and Answers

Q:Isn't it difficult to attribute all our actions to God when we are aware that we are only performing them?A: Frankly speaking it is our ignorance that we think we are performing all the actions ourselves. In fact we are prompted by the omnipresent dynamic energy to perform actions, first through a thought in the mind and then through physical action but under ignorance we think it is our thought and our action. The omnipresent/omnipotent dynamic consciousness in the universe (also referred as Shakti, Energy, Maya etc) is the cause for our thoughts as it projects its dynamism through our mind but we get caught into the delusion of ignorance. The reality is, whatever we do is provoked by the dynamic energy, but the delusion is that we think it is we who are doing everything.

When we think we are performing actions then the burden of action and its result is on us but when we attribute our actions to the higher divine energy then we are freed of the burden and the burden to make things alright falls on that divine energy.

God is thrown out of his house

God is thrown out of his house:

Once a group of saints were passing through a jungle and they saw somebody sitting on a hillock a little distance away,  looking sad and out of place. As there was radiant light emanating from that person, these saints went nearby to see who he is and what he is doing there sitting alone.

They saw it was God who was sitting alone and sad. When they enquired as to why God is sitting there alone and why is he looking so sad, God replied saying that he is thrown out of his house!

How can anybody throw you out of your house? Asked the saints in astonishment!

"Yes, it is true that I am thrown out of my house and that too by my own people", said God!

While the saints could not understand what God was saying and under what context, God further continued saying that "as you know my permanent place of residence is in the Hearts of all Beings. But people have stopped visiting me there.  They have thrown me out of their hearts and installed me in Temples, Churches and other places of worship.

When I reside in the hearts of my children I control, guide and protect their lives but it seems like they want to lead a life of their own without getting vouched by me and without my constant intervention. Most of the people seem to require me only when they are in trouble, tension or fear and in such occasions they come in search of me in these places of worship seeking protection, guidance and relief from their problems.  This too they do at their convenience.

I am starving too these days as people do not think of me when they eat food, as the essence of my food comes from the gratitude people offer me while eating food. I do not get enough sleep also in the places of worship as I am left alone in the night and locked in a small room whose four walls have no emotions or feeling of love, gratitude and devotion which is what is the soft bed for me to sleep in the night.

This is why I am sad my child!

Where I stay people do not visit me and where I do not stay people go in large numbers. I am easily available to all those who meditate on me in their hearts. I will not be available to those who throw me out of their hearts and make me homeless.

When I stay in the hearts of my devotees I take full control of their lives, guide them through the good and bad facets of life, protect them from troubles, plan for their well being, take their life challenges upon me, shower unconditional love and open doors for them to eventually unite with me.

I call upon my people, my children to reinstall me in their hearts and meditate upon me there with feeling of complete surrender and devotion and I assure them that they will be taken care of. I will make everything possible that would eventually be for their benefit.

God's plan is always better than our plan

God's plan is always better than our plan:Me: God, can I ask You a question?

God: Sure
Me: Promise You won't get mad?
God: I promise

Me: Why did You let so much stuff happen to me     today?
God: What do u mean?

Me: Well, I woke up late

God: Yes

Me: My car took forever to start

God: Okay

Me: at lunch they made my sandwich wrong & I had to wait
God: Huummm

Me: On the way home, my phone went DEAD, just as I picked up a call
God: All right

Me: And on top of it all off, when I got home ~I just want to soak my feet in my new foot massager & relax. BUT it wouldn't work!!! Nothing went right today! Why did You do that?

God: Let me see, the death angel was at your bed this morning & I had to send one of My Angels to battle him for your life. I let you sleep through that

Me (humbled): OH

GOD: I didn't let your car start because there was a drunk driver on your route that would have hit you if you were on the road.

Me: (ashamed)

God: The first person who made your sandwich today was sick & I didn't want you to catch what they have, I knew you couldn't afford to miss work.

Me (embarrassed):Okay

God: Your phone went dead because the person that was calling was going to give false witness about what you said on that call, I didn't even let you talk to them so you would be covered.

Me (softly): I see
God: Oh and that foot massager, it had a short circuit that was going to throw out all of the power in your house tonight. I didn't think you wanted to be in the dark.

Me: I'm Sorry God

God: Don't be sorry; just learn to Trust Me.... in All things, the good & the bad... And don't doubt about my plans (for your day and for your life), they are Always Better than Your Plan.

Me: I won't God. And let me just tell you God, Thank You for Everything today.

God: You're welcome child. It was just another day being your God and I Love looking after My Children...

God's Role Remains Unrecognized

    Date : 28 Feb 2009

One night a man had a dream. He dreamt he was walking along the beach with the lord. Across the skies flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of foot prints in the sand. One belonging to him and the other to the lord. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the foot prints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of foot prints. He also noticed that this happened at the very lowest and saddest time of his life.

This really bothered him and questioned the lord about it. O Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you would walk with me all the way but I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of foot prints. I do not understand why, when I needed you most you would leave me?

The lord replied, 'My son, My precious child. During your times of trial and suffering, when you have seen only one set of prints, it was then that I carried you.'

  Experience Sharing

While I was returning from my pilgrimage and proceeding towards railway station to catch my train I met with an accident and broke my leg. I had to get admitted to a local hospital for 2 days and could not catch the train in which I had my reservation. I was very upset that God does not take care of us even when we are in pilgrimage (in his abode). On the next day of cancelled trip I was shocked to read in the news papers that the train in which I was to travel, met with an accident and many people died in the accident. The coach in which I was booked was the worst affected. Then only I realized that God had actually protected me with a small leg bone fracture and not allowing me to travel in the train which was supposed to meet with an accident. I couldn't offer better gratitude than the tears which flowed from my eyes.

  Question and Answers

Q:If God is ruling the creation why then there should be so much suffering and differentiation in the world?A: God makes universal rules for the people to follow. Science of Cause and Effect (Karma theory) is based on these principles. Each individual performs action based on the free will given to him. Every action performed attracts corresponding results form the universe and thus one experiences happiness or sorrow, loss or profit, good or bad and favorable or unfavorable situations in life. The soul which is eternal and does not die with the death of physical body enjoys or suffers the results of its own action (Karma) birth after birth. It may sometimes so happen that the action is performed in one birth and the result comes in the next. This confuses us as we cannot co-relate the result to a corresponding action in the same birth.

When we regularly pray to God and seek forgiveness from him as well as from people whom we have hurt, we get protection from God.

Guru - The Great Beautician

Date : 12 Apr 2010

THOUGHT FOR CONTEMPLATION As a beautician is to a worldly person to improve his external beauty, so is a Guru to a spiritual person to improve his internal beauty.

To improve our physical beauty we regularly go to salon/beauty parlor whenever we feel our hair needs a cut or trim or dead skin needs a peel through manicure/pedicure or facial for cleansing the skin or massage for the stressed muscles etc. Similarly for inner beauty we should regularly go to a Guru (spiritual master) to get the unwanted layers of negative impressions peeled off, to shed excessively accumulated Ego, arrogance and false pride, to massage the tired/depressed/rigid mind, to remove the clots of vengeance and revenge from the heart, to cleanse the soul to see the faded God's vision clearly and to clean our inner self from the garbage of hatred, fear and jealousy.

Guru, the perfect beautician, helps project our true divine self (the Atman) to ourselves. The divine, peaceful and blissful Atman which got buried under the layers of worldly delusion, greed, aversions and attractions is gifted back to us in its original form by the Guru. He knows clearly what, where, when and which areas of our inner self needs to be cleaned to make us realize our own self to us. What is required from our side is a regular visit to him and complete surrender, rest all will be taken care of by him.

Guru Purnima Special

Date : 30 July 2010

Significance of Guru Purnima:

In the Indian tradition GURU (Spiritual master) has great significance as he is the one who makes the spiritual aspirant realize his true SELF and realize GOD. Guru is regarded even higher than God as without him no one can realize the true state of God and the truth surrounding the universe.

Even Kabirdasji said:
Guru Gobind dono khade, kake lagon paay Balihari Guru aapno, Govind diyo bataay
When Guru and God are standing together one should first bow down to the Guru as only
because of him God has descended before the aspirant.

Guru has several meanings in Sanskrit.

(1) 'Gu' means 'Darkness' and 'Ru' means 'Remover'. Guru means one who removes the darkness of ignorance and lights the light of knowledge.

(2) 'Gu' also means 'Gunatheeta' (beyond attributes) and 'Ru' means 'Rupavarjita' (beyond form). One who is himself beyond attributes (one who does not attribute any action to himself) and has established beyond the limitations of form is Guru.

(3) 'Gu' means 'Maya' (Illusion) and 'Ru' means 'Supreme Divine Knowledge'. One who is capable of removing the illusions of this world through pure divine knowledge is Guru.

It is Guru and Guru alone who can help an aspirant to cross over the worldly ocean and help break the cycle of birth, death and rebirth by enlightening the aspirant through pure divine knowledge and Self Realization. Without a proper and enlightened Guru it is almost next to impossible to transcend the illusory effects in the world and liberate.

On the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, the spiritual aspirant offers his gratitude to his Guru for accepting him as his disciple and helping him evolve spiritually. He also offers himself completely surrendered at the feet of Guru and prays that he may be directed towards the realization of his ultimate life goal i.e. Enlightenment and Liberation.

Guru Special

Date : 14 Aug 2010

Q and A on Guru:

Q. How to find a right Guru?
A.You attract people based on what you focus on and with what intensity you focus. If you focus on money, you attract people who will help you achieve your focused goal of earning money and when you focus on spiritual evolution and enlightenment then you would attract a Guru who can help you in achieving your spiritual goal. What is required is to keep your mind open for the right Guru to enter your life.

Q. How to know if GURU is Enlightened?
You cannot know if Guru is enlightened or not but there could be some indications/ broad parameters to know if the Guru is compatible to you or not and whether he/she can take you to higher levels.

Q. What are the indications of a suitable Guru?
Though there are no hard and fast rules to know the suitability of a guru but broadly these guidelines may help you realize that you are in the company of a right Guru.

(1) Your mind becomes peaceful in his presence
(2) He tries to liberate you from everything which is of binding nature in life
(3) He will not bind you with any superstitious beliefs but gives lot of strength to face any situation in life
(4) His main direction would be towards Atman, Paramatman, Self Realization, personal and spiritual evolution and Enlightenment
(5) You will always be eager to meet him at every available opportunity
(6) You may go with lot of questions in mind but mind goes blank when you are in Guru's company

(7) Every time you meet him you feel elevated
(8) Your questions are automatically answered
(9) In every action of his you find some lesson
(10) Whenever you remember him you feel surrendered, happy, bowed down and ecstatic.

Q. Do we choose the GURU or Guru chooses us?
It can work both ways but the above parameters should suffice to know you are in the right hands.

Q. Is it necessary to have a Guru?
This question is a reflection of inner Ego. Without a Guru or for that matter any person who is more evolved than us it would be highly impossible to know if we are moving in right direction. We would not know whether the path we are following will lead us to our destination, that too in the shortest and best possible manner. We would never know how to overcome various obstructions coming in our way. Instead of following trial and error method it is wise to seek the guidance of an evolved person who has already gone through the difficulties and impediments and is prepared to share his experience with us.

Without a proper Guru it would be next to impossible to break the chain of maya (illusions of the world) and know your real self. Without knowing our real Self we can never be eternally peaceful and happy because everything in the world is changing except the Self and eternal peace can be given only by something which is changeless, constant, static and itself blissful.

Please purify your mind through good deeds, feel surrendered, ignite the fire of urge in your heart for a Guru, drop Ego, remain humble and keep your inquisitiveness ON for SELF Evolution. This helps one to meet the Guru, who is waiting to see you sail through the darkness of ignorance to the light of knowledge and through death to eternity.
